Dominic Moore Talks Smashfest 2015, NHL Ping-Pong Rivalries (Puck Daddy Interview)

Dressing rooms across the NHL have ping-pong tables handy. That was one of the main reasons that Dominic Moore felt a ping-pong tournament would be a wonderful charity event.

“Guys are addicted to playing and the competitiveness and trash talk and bragging rights and all that… I’d always thought this would be the perfect thing to bring out and make an event out of it,” Moore said in an Puck Daddy interview.

Now for four years that event has been going strong and gaining traction. The even raises money and awareness for two causes. The Katie Moore Foundation raises money for rare cancer research in honor of Dominic’s late wife and the Steve Moore Foundation, named after Dominic’s brother who suffered a career ending head injury in 2014 funds concussion research.

The event has gone from raising $20k its first year, $100k its second, and $140k its third and on track to beat that number this year. Moore states that the event is “something we just want to continue to grow every year. It’d be a win-win for everyone involved.”
