The second annual Smashfest event brings the dressing room ping-pong culture of the NHL into the spotlight. Dominic Moore designed the event to set it apart from a typical celebrity charity golf event that are also conducted during the off season.
“(Table tennis) a big part of hockey culture,” said Moore. “This event is a great way to bring the dressing room culture to the public and show the players’ personalities in a unique way. You’d be impressed with some of the guys who will be playing and to see different personalities when they’re out of their hockey equipment and showing off their athletic prowess.”
This years event raised money for rare cancer research in addition to concussion research. Dominic’s wife, Katie, passed away in January at age 32 from a rare form of liver cancer. He established The Katie Moore Foundation in her honor.
